Google has introduced a new AI-based feature called Flight Deals to help travelers find the best airfares. The tool is part of Google Flights and is aimed at “flexible travelers” who are mainly looking to save money on their trips.

Instead of selecting dates and destinations the usual way, users can type requests in plain language for destinations with certain attributes, such as “a week-long winter trip to a city famous for its cuisine where I can fly nonstop” or “a 10-day ski vacation to a top-ranked resort known for fresh powder.” The AI examines its options and highlights the biggest discounts first.

Google says the system leverages a customized model called Gemini 2.5 and accesses real-time pricing from airlines and travel affiliates.

Deals are prioritized based on the percentage saved; if two flights offer equal savings, the cheaper option appears earlier. As prices fluctuate often, the available deals and rankings may also vary.

Currently testing, Flight Deals will gradually roll out in the next week to customers in the U.S., Canada, and India.

Google notes the beta launch serves to gather feedback and evaluate how AI can streamline trip planning. The tool will soon add options like excluding basic economy fares when browsing offers for the U.S. and Canada.

To use it, travelers can visit the Flight Deals page directly or access it through the menu on Google Flights. The standard Google Flights search launched in 2011 remains available and is also receiving an update to permit excluding basic economy tickets.

This rollout occurs as regulators in the European Union investigate whether Google favors its own services like Google Flights in ways that disadvantage competition.

The company reportedly considers changes to address these concerns, possibly including a price comparison box within search results.

Google’s move follows comparable AI features from Booking com, Expedia, and MakeMyTrip, all aiming to expedite trip planning and simplify the process.

While Google may be later than others adopting AI for travel, its immense reach could help Flight Deals rapidly become a serious competitor.
